Practical Aspects of Incorporating Ketogenic Diets in Diabetes Management Ketogenic or low low carbohydrate diets are in vogue, with several celebrity testimonials and online resources dedicated to this new fad. In this segment 2 of day 1 of CNS conference, Catherine Chan, PhD will introduce the topic “Ketogenic Diets – Science or Science Fiction?” As the next step from Cathy’s presentation, my talk will focus on Diabetes Canada’s position statement on low carbohydrate diet along with some handy, practical tips. To put it into perspective, I will first discuss broadly the shifting paradigms of type 2 diabetes management – from glucocentricity to individualized care. This will include a discussion around changes in diet recommendations for individuals living with type 2 diabetes over the last 20-30 years. The major part of my presentation will focus on the need for Diabetes Canada’s position statement on low carbohydrate diet, its recommendations and practical tips, including a case-based discussion.
