
Heidi Smith, RD, BSc. Registered Dietitian. Heidi was previously the head of Nutrition at the Health and Performance Centre at the University of Guelph for over 18 years. She is now one of the co-founders of the wellness company: Vitality at Work where she is a consultant for both individuals and organizations through her website: www.heidismithnutrition.com. Heidi is the author of two books: Nutrition for the Long Run and Food, Hunger and Habits. Heidi provides a unique perspective by combing her expertise on nutrition and exercise with her passion for mindfulness, self-compassion and intuitive eating. Heidi is also a certified MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress reduction) Facilitator. She weaves the principles of mindfulness into all of her endevours at home, at play and at work.

Early research suggests a structured 8 week program called Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction can have measurable benefits such as reduced stress, reduced anxiety and depression, better pain management and improved HA1C. This interactive seminar will explore the latest research on mindfulness and diabetes management. Participants will learn tangible practices they can use themselves and share with their patients and clients.
